Oldblue:quote:::"it doesn’t fit over the stock 11.6 inch SS front rotors or the 12.6 inch Brembo front rotors."

And to back that up. From the owners manual.

The SS Model has larger performance brakes than the base model. The compact spare tire will not clear the front brakes. Do not use the compact spare tire in the event of a front flat tire. You must use the rear tire to replace the front flat tire.

Those donut spares can cause more problems then they solve, especially if you try to put one on a car with AWD. I agree, even on the HHR, its not a great idea to mount it on the front, except for a very short distance. One of our cars came with no spare, and run-flats, which since we are getting older, works well for us.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but IIRC the AGM batteries do NOT have a place to connect the vent tube to.

Hydrogen gas has tiny fast-moving molecules that dissipates VERY quickly. I doubt it’s a real hazard but why try to figure it out? I used the correct conventional battery which came with a vent tube, but if the proper listed AGM had none, I’d be comfortable with that.

From Optima battery website

When used with a properly regulated constant voltage charging system (such as an alternator), the OPTIMA will not emit hydrogen gas. However, gassing can occur when charging at excessive voltage levels or in extreme high-temperature conditions. In automotive applications, this typically will not happen if the alternator/regulator stays below 15 volts.

From RV Magazine

AGM batteries must still be vented. ... AGM batteries are a type of valve-regulated lead acid battery. They are “maintenance-free” in the sense of not requiring the addition of water to offset hydrogen gas released during the charging process.

Back in the day car makers would throw a lead-acid battery under the back seat & move on,.
When I replaced my HHR battery I used one that was vent tube compatible.

Should be 60 psi in the spare. And don't just push on it and think it's full of air. Those spares have a really thick sidewall and don't "give" when you push on the sidewall.
Stick an air gauge on it.
What FMG brought up is important. I have found my spares way low on older vehicles. I check this every summer now, when the light and heat are all comfortable. I don't want to ever have to put a flat donut on there...

My daughter's Jeep Patriot was at 32 vs. the 60 it was supposed to be. They all seem to take a few pounds each year, but even that one wasn't toast. It was just neglected for a dozen years or so. I have a compressor in the garage, so this was easy once I get my teenage son moving... Tim Horton's for breakfast usually works.
