Yeah! Check out the thread about owners ages! I'm 19 and just bought my HHR, even though I've wanted it since I was 16!!

good to know! i only see older folks driving them here. haha.

the main thing that draws me to the HHR is its cargo room:gas mileage ratio. i can't believe how much that thing can hold, while basically being a cobalt (cavalier!!!).

BJ, I'm 52 and The only difference is I know what mistakes you're gonna make. Your time will come but I hope like me you figure out age is only a number. This car is pretty cool, but nothing like what I drove in high school.

I have the 2.2

I have the 2.2, I test drove the 2.4 and could not tell any difference. I did want to get the 2.4 but I would have had to special order it as I did not want chrome, Roof racks, running boards, sunroof and all of that "Bling" I just wanted a clean dechromed look. The only options I really wanted and did not get was the Pioneer strereo system and the 2.4.

In any case I do not think there is a huge difference in either one and it would not be a make or break deal for me on the motor.
I love this little car, it is fun to drive, gets good mileage and is comfortable as can be. Curly

As Curly 1 stated, I also drove both and could not tell the difference either. We have a 2.2 in a 04 Cavalier and that motor runs like a scared rabbit. They are unbelivable motors.

there was no harm meant to any people who are older than me! i was just curious to see who drives these things; i live in a pretty rural area and only see older people in them.

i also like that look. nice wheels--are they from a G6? that spoiler makes it pretty sporty too; very sharp, nice car!

2.2 vs 2.4

I had an '06 2LT with the 2.4 which I sold ( still kicking myself) . Only drawback to the 2.4 was that it wanted premium gas. The manual stated this but most dealers don't seem to know this. I know people who have this model and run regular in it, but I don't like to hear it knock. I drove an '09 1LT today with the 2.2 and bought it. I really didn't see too much difference between the 2 engines. Granted it has been a little while since I drove the 2.4, but the 2.2 didn't have any problem taking off and holding it's own. Odds are also pretty good that the 2.2 engine was built in Tonawanda, NY. The plant has an excellent reputation for quality.
Again, like someone else suggested, drive em all and see what you think. If nothing else, you'll have fun doing it.

I have a 06 2LT. We have crappy gas here in AZ. 91 octane with 10% ethanol is as good as it gets. With that said, I run regular in mine. No knock and I get 28 combined mpg and a little over 30 on freeway going 75 to 80 mph. Plus I liked the upgraded stereo and leather.
