Taking the clamps off and reinstalling the spring in not very hard.

Perhaps an over anxious ham fisted mechanic with a pneumatic impact type driver and or using wrong torque limiter tool. Best to always hand torque with torque wrench the wheel nuts (dry) to the factory recommended spec. (100 lbs ft on HHR 5 bolt) GM I believe emphasize this in all the Drivers Handbooks.

Must'a lowered the rear a lot to void the warranty. Or the springs are bright yellow, or something obvious like that...

DAAAAAAAAAMN......that site has some smoking deals on parts ......for the money. Thanks Bud. And thanks for the condolences on my son in law. I would really like to find out if he was a member here before he was killed in the accident. I may be able to get more info on the HHR.
