The recall is about the bin not remaining closed during an accident maybe causing the contents of bin to go flying in the interior...details are here.

Why don't you take it to you Chevy dealer and get it fixed under warranty? We've seen a few of them break with no abuse. If you car has over 36,000 miles on it, just ask the service manager if they can help you with it, and they probably will.

Last I knew you dont have to be under warranty to get recall notices. They are mandated by the powers that be?

Mine must be ready to break. After pushing the button I have to hook a fingernail underneath the lid to get it open. It wont just pop open on it's own by pushing the button.
