Thanks for the input

Thanks all for the input. Think I'll stick with cloth, no sunroof, and have to think about the 2.2 vs 2.4, not to thrilled about having to run premium. Think I'll test drive a 2.2 in a stick and auto to see the difference...haven't driven a stick on a regular basis in a long time, nice having hands free with the auto but sticks are fun (as in my 1969 camaro 4 speed).

Thinking back, it was back-*ss-wards to ask an HHR forum if they like the car, should have asked what you do not like.

Thanks again for the detailed input, I really do appreciate it.

Dave

I'm weird

Girlfriend and I have 2LTs that are loaded (2006 and 2007) except for the MANUAL transmission. These are rare cars. I've been here long enough to be repeating myself from other threads, but......
1. Turbo has separate repair issues that simply don't exist on the other trim levels. Having test-driven the turbo, the best thing I noticed about it is the smoother-shifting manual transmission.
2. The manual 2.4 accelerates well and gets great mileage. The 0-60 time difference between the manual 2.4 and the automatic turbo is less than the difference between the manual and automatic turbo.
3. The 2.4 has the OPTION to use premium. I never have, and don't miss it.
4. Only the non-turbo could be equipped with heated, leather seats. I had no idea how much I would enjoy them until I had them.
5. Until recently, used 2LTs were very inexpensive ($9000 for my 2007, $7500 for her 2006 before some repairs after purchase) and cost much less than the SS used. Recent price trends seem to be for 2LTs to cost more, and 2008 turbos to cost less. As the end of the extended power train warranty looms, the SS's value will probably continue to drop faster.

26k on my 09 ls 2.2 and no issues. 33mpg from raleigh to charlotte 70-80 while doing some drafting at times. i was stuck on getting a 2.4 until i drove a 2.2 and it was plenty power for me. only thing is lock hole wasnt cut right so the door lock gets stuck sometimes using the remote, easy fix if i cared enough haha. i chose this over a scion xb and honda fit, i love the car. i fit a rediculous amount of stuff in it when i moved from MA to NC including 3 bikes and a 46" tv

I had a 2010 LT as a company car for the past year and had zero issues with it until right before the company laid me off..lol It developed some water leaks that was getting into the electrical system somewhere. It took a while but I finally found a competent dealer who did a proper water test and plugged the leaks. I was going to be getting a 2011 LT next week BUT because of the aforementioned getting laid off I'm getting an LS instead..lol I'm going through USAA and they getting me a really good deal; $14K instead of the sticker $20K. I did spurge and get the Pioneer Premiere and the My Link upgrades though..lol It'll be nice having a standard again too. I put a little over 50K miles on the 2010 HHR and had zero issues with it except the water leaks at the end. I looked at Toyota, Nissan and such but all those companies are going to be having parts issues for months so I'll have the HHR by the end of next week hopefully so I can cash in on Chevy's nice incentives they are running until the end of the month.

My 06 1LT has the 2.4L with an auto. I bought it new and now have 80,000+ miles on it and am still running the original brakes. I replaced the tires at 52 K miles and shocks and struts at 60,000 along with spark plugs. I'm averaging 30.6 mpg running primarily 87 octane. I've had only one issue..key stuck in ignition when new and fixed at the dealer under warrenty recalll. The car is comfortable for me when driving, but I keep to the speed limits. I usually change my own oil with Mobil 1 when the DIC says 10% oli life usually at 8-10000 mile intervals.

2.2 and 2.4 both take regular gas, not premium.

Mine has the premium editon which came with roof-racks, running boards, rear spoiler, sunroof and leather wrapped wheel. Totally changes the look of the HHR and stands out nicely.
I am looking for a down-the-road replacement and nothing compares to this car with respect to functionality - storage, etc.
If you like it, go with it. Shop hard and you'll find a good deal.
