Thanks for the update, Mike. I'm considering this, but am thinking of adding some sort of switch in an accessible location so that I can quickly and easily put the entire unit in 'normal' mode if so desired. Perhaps I'll extend the pnk/white wire up to the area of the dash mounted glove box and put either a small rocker switch or a spring loaded 'button' switch (for lack of better terms) there.

Just to clarify, with the wire snipped your fresh-air/recirc damper has STAYED in recirc mode with no further intervention from you, correct? And if that's so, I would assume that in order to go back to fresh air you would need to reconnect your snipped wire(s)?

Thats correct.. Put it in recirculate mode cut and tape the pink/white.Actuator has no signal to tell it to go back to fresh air so it stays in rec. MIKE

Question

Sorry for the thread necromancy, and for beating the horse, but this is a current issue for me, and I'm not entirely sure I've followed the discussion accurately. (shrug)

Before I start snipping wires, I want to ask someone who's done it: does snipping the wire as described above also prevent the manual "fresh air" button on the A/C controls from working?

In other words, if I do this can I still use the manual buttons to go back and forth between the "fresh" and "recirc" states?

in advance!

The two posts prior to yours are pretty clear - yes, if you cut the wire it will leave it in recirc. And the dash switch will no longer function, unless you cut the wire, AND wire the cut ends into another switch.

Thank you, whopper, I did read those posts -- several times, in fact -- but somehow they just weren't quite clear to me.

I appreciate your taking the time to rephrase it.

Oddly enough, I have noticed that, whopper.

I'm thinking about trying a different approach, as I really want to be able to switch between the two manually. I just don't want to have to do it every time I get into the car, you know?

If I get it working I will definitely post details, yes, with photos.

This is one of the few things I don't like about this car.

If you're feeling a little adventurous, jimfet, I've found a real solution.

Hopefully it even has enough pix to please whopper.
