Updated results have been posted for the 2006 and 2007. The 2006 has a worse than average repair rate, while the 2007 (like the 2007 Cobalt) is about average, maybe a bit better than average. As is often the case, the first year cars require more attention.

The result for the 2007 is asterisked because the sample size is marginal. And there weren't enough responses for the 2008. Especially need more participants for these years--and more 2006s would also be helpful.

It seems as though we 16 incher folks got a better OE tire, from hearing all the complaints on the Firehawks from 17 inchers. Because I know the Affinity's on my 1LT did an acceptable job in recent Indiana snow, as well as regular wet/rain traction.
The Chicken Hawks suck hard but do OK on dry flat pavement. If you live in an area where you will experience "weather" on roads other than pristine, drop some coin on the best mod going for your ride... decent skins! My tire of choice is the Nokian WR but I'm too strapped for room to store a second set of dedicated winters and ice traction is a MUST. When things get really bad the `05 Avalanche LT Z71 gets the nod (heated ass warmer is better than sex when the mercury hits -30F) otherwise its all HHR.

Have had HHRvey for 3 years, he still runs strong with no problems! Has a little over 20,000 miles on him. Started right up in sub zero weather, handled well on the ice and snow during the snow/ice storm we had here 2 weeks ago. VERY RELIABLE CAR, and FUN to drive!

I bought my HHR new in November 2007. No regrets, 18,500 miles and still have the original brakes. This car has had only oil changes done and one state inspection since it left the showroom floor. I did add a sway bar to improve handling, GM should have offered one. Big difference on exit ramps.

139 HHR owners signed up to help so far. A good start, but more remain needed. Especially need 2008s and 2009s.

Just found my 2008 2LT HHR 4 days ago. Love the darn thing. Lots more room, power, goodies than my 2007 Caliber SXT. Has 24K on the clock, and for the last 4 days, been getting 30.7 average MPG. What's not to like. Oh yeah...brand new member on here to..

My 2007 2.2L five speed, I have had for 25 months. So far its been back to the dealer only for oil and filter changes, and the two recalls, one for additional padding at the top of the windshield pillars, and to sign off for the fix for the dash compartment door fix. I'm almost afraid to say it, but it has been 100% problem free.
