We have updated results for the HHR to include owner experiences through the end of March. In terms of successful repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2008: 41, about average, close to "better than average"

2007: 80, about average, but close to "worse than average"

2006: 101, worse than average

A big thanks to everyone who has been helping. We'll have further updates in August and November. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.

Just signed up with my 2008 LS. Never had any issue besides routine maintenance and it's got a little over 35k miles on it.

Just lost the electric steering assist.

As the title says, lost it and am hoping to get warranty replacement as it was brought into the shop and identified before warranty was up but since then our dealer might be nixed and our warranty is passed. Our Avalanche never had so much as a hickup in 100K kilometers. The HHR... at least it looks uber nice.

160 HHR owners now signed up. A good start, but more are needed to provide precise results for all model years. Especially need more 2008s and 2009s.

Thanks, I certainly appreciate it. The more owners participate, the better the information we can provide. Especially need more for recent model years.

Additional participants always helpful. Especially need more 2009s--with a few more we could include this year in the survey.

We have updated results for the HHR to include owner experiences through June 2009. In terms of successful repair trips per 100 cars per year:

2008: 48

2007: 78

2006: 95

All are about average.

A big thanks, once again, to everyone who has been helping. We'll have further updates in November and February. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.

Updated results again next month.

We're going to start providing new stats for the odds of requiring no repairs and the odds of getting a lemon. These require larger sample sizes, so additional participants would be helpful.

For the details, and to sign up:

I have owned many cars in my lifetime, a few of them have fallen into the "luxury" realm. I owned Chevrolets as a high school and college student, and thought that as I became better educated, my tastes had to change. That was my error! I have owned my 2006 HHR for three years plus now and I have never been more satisfied with an automobile. It suits our needs and is extremely reliable. I have never been required to bring it for any significant repair except the "warping" of the brakes and that was over 45,000 miles ago. I get tremendous fuel economy and routine maintainence is significantly less expensive than what my wife pays for her German Import(and hers has been in the shop many times and she has fewer miles! )

I know that this report is unscientific but I can state emphatically that with 84,000 miles on this car, it has served my family well and I intend to continue to purchase Chevrolets. I filled out this survey with the same positive attitude that I make this report. I love this car and my Chevrolet dealership. After reading many entries on this site, I know that others share my views.

Incidentally, I have brought the car in for oil changes every three thousand miles and for other prescribed routine maintenance! I am very pleased. It has been a remarkable value.

Steve
