When I was part of the GM test for after market air cleaners, I discovered aftermarket parts are very expensive for the amount of HP gained. Something like $100/HP. GM also discovered the claims by ALL AFTERMARKET products are exaggerated or slightly misleading. Notice that no manufacturer guarantees the amount of increased HP.......they just mention, "......UP TO". None that were tested produced the upper limit mentioned in the ads. The GM Performance system produced 3-4 maximum HP, which was realized from continual dyno testing.

I wrote about this many years ago, after GM introduced their system to the consumer market and displayed mine (which was a gift for the participation).

My opinion.......if you want the noise, make your own. If you want 4 HP purchase any name brand system.

Good post snoopy. What I like just as much if not more than a couple of extra horses is improved throttle response. To me thats what makes a car fun to drive

This is at the engine flywheel. Given the standard loss of 15/20% HP thru the drivetrain, do the math.

No, this was at the front drive wheels .....before and after install ......and six other tests in a 3 month period. And note the other 9 vehicles, in the trial, had essentially the same results. Get or take 1-2 HP either direction.
