dealer trashed my car!
Two weeks ago I got in my HHR started it up and then tried to shift into reverse to get the car out of the garage. Long story short – the shifting gear broke. (The car has 22,400 miles on it and spent its 1st birthday in the shop.) The dealer sent a flat bed tow truck to get the car. The driver was going to pull my car out of the garage while the car was still in gear (the dealer told me the tow truck driver would bring a dolly to lift the car onto before moving it out of the garage). I had to argue with the driver to get him to try and get the car into neutral before dragging it onto the tow bed. After a few minutes of fighting with it, he got the car into gear and onto the tow truck. The shifting gear has a technical bulletin out on it and the dealer had it fixed the next day. I went to the dealer signed the paper work and walked to my car and opened the door – you could not imagine the amount of grease that was on my light gray fabric seats and carpet. It looked like the mechanic had rolled around on the shop floor and then rolled around in my car! Both front seat bottoms were full of grease, the carpet was black, and they even had grease on the headliner. I ended up sitting around the shop for an hour while they tried to clean it. I was not happy with the way the seats looked, but the dealer said to let the seats dry and give them a call if I was still not happy. I called the next day and they set up an appointment for the following week to clean it again. What I found over the weekend was grease ground in the backseat as well as the front seats, grease on both sides of the visors, grease on the headliner even grease in the hatch area. After the car spent another day in the shop my husband and I went to pick it up and they still had grease in the car. The shop manager had the nerve to tell us that he has the same interior in his Tahoe and he is always cleaning the upholstery because his kids make a mess of it. My kid is 21 years old and just graduated college and came home in May! My back seat is rarely used. Then the manager had the nerve to tell me that the grease on the back of the seats in the hatch area were from normal wear and tear and pointed to smudge marks from the rubber mounts on the hatch lid. My husband told the dealer that the shop we had my daughter’s car fixed at used covers for the seats, steering wheel and floor. This moron told us that they “used to use them, but we kept finding them all over the parking lot, so we don’t use them anymore”. The kicker to this is that we had the car detailed, ant the interior and paint treatment applied by this dealer 3 weeks before this, so the car was clean and they cleaned it! My problem is how do I get the dealer to get my car cleaned like it was when it went in for service, or replace my seat covers? My husband thinks I am stuck with the car like it is, but I want it returned in the condition it was in before it went in for service. I love this car and every time I get in it now I get upset.
Thanks for the help,
Jeanne

Wow! I can certainly understand why you would be upset. There is no excuse for your car to be returned in that condition. Keep fighting, I don't see how they can get away with that type of service. Good luck to you and your husband and I hope it is fixed to your satisfaction, and soon.
I would be throwing such a hissy fit.
I would not give up until I was satisified with the cleaning or replacement of the seat covers!!!
My dealer always uses something so my car is not dirtied when serviced.
I would absolutely not let them get away with that. I would put in a complaint with the manager of the dealership, and if that did not work I would call GM directly. But be polite. I think I would take pics of my car before going in for service again (maybe right there) or go to another dealer if one is close by to you!
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

I'd start working my way up the food chain. 1st step dealer GM; the area GM rep, then GM customer service, you'd be surprise how much good a call and letter to a CEO's office and division President can be.
Had that happen to me, I would have handed the keys back to service manager and instructed him to get me a loaner vehicle as good as, if not better than what I was driving, at their expense. My second instruction would be to call me when my vehicle is restored to the condition it was in when it was picked up by the tow truck driver.
In your situation I would call the Service manager and the owners of the dealership and tell, not ask, them that they need to get this resolved. I would also call any local consumer action group for assistance.
I would also point out that I have no interest in their
excuses. They
it up, they can
very well make it right!!!
... uhm sorry. hit a nerve.
