Driving in snow?

Having purchased our HHR in September, we have not had the opprtunity to drive it in the snow. On occasion, here in the Hudson Valley NY we get our share of snow. I was just wonder how the handling will be. Our came with the 16" factory alloy wheels and Firestone all-season radials. I do not foresee us driving in real bad weather, but I was wondering how the handling is just in case we have to drive it in a few inches of snow.
Thanks, Jim

Drive SLOW!! I live in Minnesota and I found the factory 16" Firestones to be next to useless in the snow (and rain, for that matter). Replaced them a couple of weeks ago with Goodyear Assurance Comforttreds. Supposed to snow this week, I'll let you know how they work.

A lot of threads already here about HHRs handling in winter/snow. Here is the oldest and longest running of them.......

Summary of the other threads:

Bottom line it drives like any other FWD car but the factory tires are crap.

Replace the tires and you will be fine.

I live at the 4200 foot elevation in central Oregon, so we have had two snow events so far this season. The stock tires were terrible in the snow, so I replaced them with Hankook snow tires...great traction now!

I am on my second HHR and never replaced the stock tires on either HHR. It drives like all front wheel cars and we have had our share of heavy snow and ice here in the Southern Tier of New York.

Ties & Snow

I also live in MN, and last year replaced the stock Firestones (and wheels), and not only is the ride much better, but it handled very well in the snow. I would recommend if possible, that you changed the tires soon, you'll love the HHR all over again!
