Flashing LED when alarm is set, none?
On one of our cars I have a Viper alarm system and it has a blinking blue LED when the alarm is set which is nice for late at night and I want to check to make sure I did lock everything and can see the blinking light if alarm is on. So my HHR does not have anything like this and I am curious if one can be added and if so, where? I looked at the Haynes manual electrical diagrams and did not see anything that could be tapped easily. In the diagram there are lots (lots and lots) of wires that run into various named boxes and controllers. I am guessing this is probably not possible, but has anyone done this?

When alarm is set..
My HHR has a flashing light to left side of the dash gages.. I think they all do.. Flashes every 3 seconds.
No sense doing something yours should already should have. It is mentioned in the owners manual also..
If you have Keyless entry, It has the flashing security light.
To arm it instantly, hit the lock button the fob twice, otherwise in 30 seconds flashing will begin..

..... as documented on page 112 of the owners manual.
The light is not that bright however - it doesn't FLASH the interior of the car like some alarm lights. One could relocate the light from the lower left of the instrument cluster to a more visible location with the right skills and tools.

As noted above, the flashing light on the dash is about as close to useless as you can get. If you are outside the car it is hard to see and according to a couple of alarm websites the addition of an aftermarket system requires an "interface module" like I had to get when replacing the stereo. The electrical diagrams do not show any wires concerning the alarm indicator so I guess it will stay as is for now.
