Front mounted ant. delete???

Has anyone attempted a front mounted antenna removal.
I know it`s sorta a part of the radio system/computer, and that removing it would kinda eliminate regular radio signals, but if you have satellite radio, and you continue to subscribe, it`s not really necessary.
Of course there`s the little matter of the hole left in the "Forehead" of the ride, which is really the basis of this thread...
Has anyone thought about/done a delete?

Check with Lee3333. I know at one time he had mentioned trying to remove the antenna.

you can run one of those and be okay. just weld up the hole and have the bodywork and painted.

It was a hypothetical, and you would certainly have a hard time fitting that unit into to the area...
I don`t personally think I would do it, to my wife`s ride, and it may come up at trade-in time...(for my S/S), that`s right, when it has the S/S badging, it will cease being "Her Hot Ride", and become,"Turbonium II".

Keep in mind that GM used the antenna base to ground the radio.

BB, were you implying that the XM radio antenna would work for local stations? If so, it doesn't work on my HHR. I remove the antenna when I go through car washes with brushes. Until I reinstall it, I can't pick up a clear signal. We don't have many stations down here with strong signals.

However, your HHR looks really good in the picture without it!

That was the intent, wouldn`t the HHR look good without an antenna?
