Front wipers wont park

We have a 2010 HHR and the front wipers won't park properly. The linkage is OK and the transmission seems fine. I think it is an electrical issue, Replace the BCM and the wiper motor works fine. Has anyone else had this problem?

I was probably the programing out of kilter, I don't think there is an "old fashioned" simply switch anymore. Computer does everything electrical.

Assuming I read your post right. You fixed it by replacing the BCM?

Welcome to the site. I need some more info. Your bcm was replaced now the wipers won't park? Or was this problem there before the bcm was replaced?

The original problem was the drivers wiper did not wipe. The passenger wiper worked fine. We determined that the Drivers wiper was stripped where it connects to the shaft. Took the wiper off and that is when it would not park when shut off. Checked with Alldata and it led us the either the Wiper Motor or the BCM. We got a new wiper motor to run a test and that did the same thing. Then the BCM was replaced by the dealer (for $500+) and it still was not the cause. Checked the lead wire from the BCM to the switch and it was ok. 5 hours and still no cause. Any suggestions?

Ok one more question so I under stand. When you turn off the wipers do they stop immediately (anywhere on the windshield ) or do they continue move and stop in the same spot every time?

They stop immediately wherever they are.

The first thing that comes to mind is a bad park switch. The park switch is inside the wiper motor which you tell me you already tried. Did you have the dealer diagnose the wiper problem or did you just have them replace the bcm.

Hey sprodgers,

Sorry to hear about your wipers. I'm not sure if this is in your ability to fix, or if you plan on going to a dealer. But if the dealership is the route you decide to take, and would like some assistance, let me know! You can PM me your full name and contact information, VIN, current mileage, and involved dealership and I'd be happy to help.

Sincerely,

Jonathan A.
