Gas Smell

I have written a letter to the Blitz company, complaining of their CARB/EPA can. I had one spill in the back and am trying to figure out how to get the gas odor out of my H. I've tried airing it, and took upholstery cleaner to the fabric spots that have strong evidence. I've used Armor All on the hard plastic areas. Any advice?

Try charcoal just your standard grilling charcoal. Just put a few bricketts in the back were it spilled and the charcoal will absorb the odor.

Maybe even sprinkle some (alot) baking soda.

The toughest odors to get rid of are milk or cat spray. I have stripped a complete interior out to the metal and painted all the exposed metal surfaces only to still smell the odor with new interior and headliner. I ended up using charcoal mini bricketts in a open cardboard box for three weeks before it was completely gone.

The consensus seems to be charcoal. And if that doesn't clear the smell, I can always light the charcoal, right?

No- I didn't say that. (Note for the insurance company in case something should happen. )

With two young boys, we've spilled our fair share of milk (in the wifey's ride not the H!). I used a water/vinegar mix to get rid of the milk smell. Car stunk of vinegar for a day or two, but got the putrid milk smell to go away.

Charcoal info is good knowledge to store away for another day. Thanks for the tidbits gents!

There is some stuff called Natures Miracle, which is primarly for getting pet stains and oders out. It works great, you can get it at pet stores. I would guess it would work for a gasoline oder as well.
