And then, don’t use the premix, in case there’s still some water in there. Calculate how much CONCENTRATE the system needs, mix 1/2 of that with water 2:1 and dump that in, then top off with 1:1, fill the recovery tank with 1:1, and burp a few times, adding 1:1 as needed. That way you will have a perfect 1:1 in the system. (But in my climate I like it a little richer, just in case of a crazy cold night.)

The Prestone 50/50 premix Dexcool has a rating of -37 degrees F , it works great up here!

Yes it does. But the record low for Ohio I think is coincidently -37, so betcha it’s a little less in yer neighborhood. And GM does recommend 60:40 for certain unlivably frigid climes. (Autocorrect changed unlivable to unlovable, lol.)

Changing Thermostat…

If I drain the radiator will that lower the coolant level enough or do I need to remove waterpump drain plug? ..,trying to save my coolant,….not very old

Lower the coolant level enough to do what? You've talked about replacing the pump, the filler neck, the thermostat, and flushing the coolant.

No need to drain. You will only lose a few ounces removing the t-stat.

Well….got the new AC thermostat in…figure mostly burped…check again in morning….so far seems to have made a difference..even idles better which is confusing to me…lol Changed oil and filter. Know more when get on interstate at speed and mountains.
Got new AC plugs on the way.
