Help with Remote

Hey everyone, new to the HHR. Bought an 06 LT auto 2.2. Problem is it only came with 1 key and no remotes. Got one from a junkyard and it didn't work (yes I took it to the dealership to be programmed) . After doing some research I learned I may have factory remote start...have AP3 on the options sticker in glove box. My question : do I really have remote start and if so, what is the best way to get proper remotes so that it works? Thanks...

Welcome!

AP3 indicates that the car came equipped with Remote Start.

Was the one from a junkyard the correct part number? Is the battery good? Is the battery cage soldered in good? Why did the dealership fail? Is remote start turned on in the DIC.

You can get a keyfob with programming module from auto parts stores, eBay, Amazon etc. for about $50-$80.

Type "keyfob" into the search tool, everything you need to know is here.

If you need a Owner Manual online manuals are available through the link in my sig.

Not correct

No, it wasn't the correct part. I ended up being for an Avalanche. Went back to the dealership to confirm the remote start from the VIN and it seems the car is equipped. Ordered 2 from ebay that are the correct part number replacements for $20.

Depending on what your dealer charges, it is usually cheaper to get the ones with programmer. The programmer is good for several fobs, so you could get 1 with a 1 without. My local guys charge $109 per to program them, YMMV.
