HHR is the Anti-Malibu

First of all, let me say that the car my HHR replaced was a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu. The car the 2000 Chevrolet Malibu replaced was a 1997 Malibu that was totaled in a car accident.

The 1997 Chevrolet Malibu was an absolute lemon. It was nothing but problems from day one of ownership and nothing that Chevrolet could do could make it reliable. When it was totaled I purchased a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu in hopes that the problems of the 1997 Malibu would be resolved by then. Well, I was wrong. The 2000 Chevrolet Malibu was every bit the POS that the 1997 was.

Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me!

When my god-awful 2000 Chevrolet Malibu broke down in my home town last summer I looked at HHRs. I didn’t buy one then because (stupid me) I thought the Malibu would last two more years. I dumped $1,800 into the Malibu and off I went. This summer that worthless pile needed another $1,200 worth of repairs and I said, “Hell, no!” I went back to my home town dealer to see what kind of a deal he could make me on an HHR. He gave me $2,500 for my hunk of junk Malibu and I went home with a fully loaded HHR!

I now have 4,000 miles on the HHR and I have had no problems. So far it is fabulous! It is everything that my Malibus were not. Mt gas mileage varies a lot because I live in a very hilly city so I only get around 20.5 in town. Out on the highway, however, I have gotten as high as 33.9!

If not for the HHR I would not have purchased another GM vehicle after the debacle of owning those terrible Malibus. Hopefully, my HHR with give me many happy miles of ownership. So far, I love it!

to the forum. Glad to hear that the HHR has served you well so far. I've had mine almost 2 years now and I love it. Haven't had any major issues to date, so I couldn't be more pleased. Looked forward to seeing you around the forum.

Thanks for the welcome. I hope I have the same experience with my HHR as you are having with yours. I would like to own it a long long time!

Welcome aboard.

Nice to see someone else that got burned twice on the re-introduced POS Malibus (2001 & 2003 models for me) and still stuck with GM.

I was set on buying a Malibu Maxx, until I saw the HHR. My mind was changed very quickly.
