Wonder IF the leaking fuel lines or vapor return line might have something to do with it?

Did you read the linked article ?
Doubtful since it said body spray and a lit cigarette.

Yes, I read the article about the body spray. Just find it hard to believe that this was the only issue here.

Vapor explosions end about as fast as they start. I'm sure they guys ears were ringing for a while after.

With the concussion/explosion that happened, I bet it did.

I can testify that this is easy to do.
I had a significantly stupid situation similar to this....

I'll shorten the story considerably.........I have a large business size paper shredder. It came time to empty the waste and I removed the container and bag to take out side. At the same time I noticed the shredding mechanism needed cleaning as well, so it was unplugged and taken out as well. Paper pieces were carefully removed from the shredder head, it's a "confetti" type so multiple sharp cutters. Noticing a lot of paper "fuzz" I decided to blow it out with compressed air. Being lazy, it's a big large shredder, I elected not to utilize my garage compressor. Instead I used canned air.....the type that's used on computers and such. Did a great job and took everything back into the house, assembled, dry lubed and plugged it in. Of course it would need testing. Went to shred a piece of scrap paper and it went BOOM. Apparently THE CANNED AIR PROPELLENT WAS COMBUSTABLE. Luckily there was about 15-20 minutes in between the air spraying and the start up. No injury, BUT I learned a lesson. I ARE DUMB.

You may laugh now and call me names!!
