yeah as much as i would love to have a killer 2.4 SS turbo custom. im not worried about price really. It is reliability that gets me so i think ill just settle for the 2.0l Turbo. What prospective numbers yall think i could get from the 2.0. Yall think 300 is possible? maybe not wheels but at least crank thats only asking 30-40 depending.

Hmmmm. indeed. Not to trash your car or flame in any way, the 78 Vette is hardly a force to be reckoned with. On the contrary... here's some specs I dug up on Google.
(For 1978) Chevrolet produced two special edition Corvettes, one being a Pace Car appearance edition and the other a special silver anniversary paint package. The L48 engine was standard with the L82 optional.
With the optional L82 205-hp engine, the Corvette could charge to 60 mph in 7.4 seconds.
Stock Engine specs:
Horsepower 185.00 HP (136.2 KW) @ 4000.00 RPM
Torque 280.00 Ft-Lbs (379.7 NM) @ 2400.00 RPM
...so when you're ready for some serious power, maybe you should drop in an LS1 or LS2 crate into your Corvette. It won't be an original spec motor, but then I would think it'd be a lot more fun to drive!

I have a 2.4 in my HHR and I have driven my friends Saturn Sky redline (same 2.0 Turbo they are using in the SS) They are not in the same performance league. The 2.0 is one hell of a ride. I managed to break the tires loose at about 50mph in the sky shifting into 3rd. No way the 2.4 could do that.

I already have a 2006 2.4L HHR, so I'm hoping to install a turbo or supercharger kit next year (Hahn?). The loss I would take trading it on an SS would be so huge that it wouldn't be worth it for me. However, if I didn't already have an HHR and was buying soon, I would definitely go for the SS rather than buy a 2.4L and install a turbo kit.

WELCOME and thanks for doing your thing out there man!!! As for the hhr thing....bieng different is one of my main things, and yes having a 2.4 turbo would be insane. The only thing is that what your going to spend on parts, labor, and headaces down the road...save it and go with the SS. with all the research that's being done already with the SS, by the time you get it....some parts should be readily avail.

I just got the 2.2 engine to save $ for future modding.
Not looking for drag race power just want to get up hills and pass.
I've already built a 2.3 Turbo Ranger and a Mustang and as stated with all the 2.2 support the Ecotec should be easy.
VTEC is not needed for boost.
A nice little turbo will spool up quik with not much lag and 8-10 PSI will provide way more than 25HP.
Best bang for buck.
