HHR owner drives into sinkhole

NEWS STORY HERE

The female news anchor says "...this VAN, goes into..."

Anyway, just thought it was interesting. At least the on-site reporter called it a CHEVY!

Well, scratch one 2LT from the world, no injuries that's good.

Just goes to show that sometimes a "puddle" is a "puddle", and sometimes it ain't.

Glad everything turned out alright. Scary issue.

We had something like this, but by intentional driving, a year or two ago. We had heavy rains and, as such, roads that cross usually dry river and wash beds were flooded. Some guy, with a friend and driving an HHR, tried to drive through the water that was covering the road (and incidentally was blocked by "Do Not Enter" barricades. It didn't quite work and he and the friend were "liberated' from the car by the Sheriff's department helicopter.

We have a "stupid motorist law" here that covers such activities. Under that law, he would be fined for the offense, pay the costs of the helicopter rescue. Additionally his HHR was probably totaled. Needless to say but, he probably learned something from the experience.
