Lets just say the asking price of my 2010 LT with 39K on the mileage at the time, was a hair under 13.5 grand asking price when I went car shopping last September. It's also a GM CPO vehicle. I found used cars in general to be absurdly high priced last year, and the inflated price bubble in the used market is still going on. Folks just aren't trading in to buy new vehicles every few years like they used to, as they are driving their cars and trucks much longer. Hence the premium asking prices for used vehicles, even on ones with
moderately high mileage and less than new cosmetic condition.

Blame cash for clunkers for higher used car prices. The sub $3000 used cars pretty much dried up. Try buying a Jeep XJ, they want stupid money for those.

But i guess I can see demand for the hhr as its a great value. Not that im biased.
While I understand mark up and making money are a given that does not mean that the dealer buying the car for MORE than BB and selling it for even more then BB is a good practice. The point of this thread is prices that make you laugh out loud and too me $13K for a 6 year old car that sold for for less then $16k and has a current RETAIL BB of less then $9.5k is LOL . If a buyer is STUPID enough to not do their due dilagence and research the car then I guess they deserve to be taken to the cleaners.

The biggest issue with selling cars at these kinds of mark ups is that when the car gets totaled a year down the road the owner will be in over their head more then likely and will still owe on the now totaled car.

While we didn't "steal" it, it seemed to be a pretty good deal: leather, sunroof, cruise, fog lights, etc. with 23,000 miles for 13K. Probably a rental return, but no issues so far. Although I still think the salesman was probably high-five-ing his buddies after we drove off the lot....
See this is a price that I would find resonable. It also justifies my LOL at 06 LS's for $13K.

I paid $12100 2 weeks ago for a 1lt w/14000 miles ,running boards.roof rack, very clean, after trading a 98 blazer w/150000 miles w/some issues. Figured the deal was good based on research, and mileage jumped fromm 13 to 23 mpg. I' m happy.

Paid $13.5k for my 2011 1LT w/22k miles in January, it's Crystal red w/chrome, leather, moonroof options. Lots of silver and gray 2011's still around here in Nor Cal, but had to search out this one.

New to site which I think is great. Purchased 2011 2LT black metalic with red pin stripe and red Chevrolet on side bottom of the doors, ebony leather int. heated seats, sun roof, chrome pkg, 2.4, 17 alloy wheels,10,003 miles, former fleet vehicle, no onstar or remote start. Dealer sticker 17,995.
After 4 hours walked out the door for 14,195. Wife was very happy. Bought on 12/23/11. Seen alot of these fleet vehicles on line that were bought at the midwest auction in October. Which I let the dealer know it was on the cafax reports of the hhrs on dealer lots in Wisconsin and I could look elsewhere. This dealer had 4 on his alone. Can't wait til spring to give it a good cleaning. Just had 17 inches of snow on Wednesday. Hard going but so far it has made it through all the snow. Gas milage averaging 28 mpg overall. I think that is OK as temperture this morning was 6 below. I have only nun Premium 93 octane so far. 13,641 miles today.

2008 ss

When I bought my 08SS it had 57K on the clock and I paid 12.8K out the door. I used my old tag, that was extra, but my SS was 12.8 including tax and dealer fee. It is in nice shape inside and out.

I missed this earlier. Since cash for clunckers was a few years ago and I just bought my 07 back in OCT for 2/3 the price of the 06's I referenced in my OP I am going to have to say that this is not a case of Cash for Clunckers.

Paid $16k for my '10 SS w/26300 miles. I've seen cheaper/older SSes but always with more miles.
