I've heard the engines are designed to to go 250,000.
Should I start to worry?

 

2.4L 5-speed manual, 2007, 276,847 miles, and still running strong.

Worry will depend on your maintenance schedule or lack of one.
SISU, my 2006 2LT, has 236k miles and I'm looking for another 200k.
So far I have replaced the timing & balance shaft chains, water pump and alternator.
Oil changes every 2500 miles.
So, it all depends

 

This thread started in 2011. Both of my HHR's are now just over 100K, but now, 14 years later, that's LOW mileage.

 

My recently purchased 2008 has 272,000. Runs good

 

I had the chains and water pump replaced a couple of years ago.
This engine runs like a dream. As soon as I started it at the test drive, it was obvious, I had to buy it.
I wrecked my previous HHR panel, I had bought used, and it's engine was noisy and had less power.

Well the HHR was tested today for miss on #2 cylinder.
low compression, 50 lbs. Not going to repair since it has 273,000. Just gonna drive to the ground. Weird. It only skips at idle, runs fine going down the road. Thought for sure it would be a injector or something easy to repair when I purchased
