Hit a bump so hard...

On my way back from work, I hit a bump (pothole) so hard... the motor shut down! I pulled over and it started right up. I did not see any damage or leak but I will let it rest for a bit and check that out later.

I think that's normal... When I drove my Lumina off a loading dock someone asked me if it shut off and was surprised it didn't. Can't remember why it does, but it's like some type of fuel cut off or something, probably so it shuts off in an accident.

Damn, hope I don't hit anything like that but it's almost inevitable here in Indy. Not use to low profile, last vehicle had 295/75/16s and they were bad enough on some of these roads.

I believe all of the newer cars have some sort of an impact switch that kills the fuelpump. I'm guessing the impact of whatever you hit was sufficient to activate that fuelpump kill switch. On Ford products, it must be manually reset, I frankly don't know how the GM versions work.

No Dukes of Hazzard style flying or anything, but you can find the story in the first post...

I used to drive a taurus wagon for work. My bro in law showed me just the right spot to slap the car to make the shut off work. Its a great security feature as long as you know how to reset it
