If you never had one fail, why change the 87 Firebird? Like me, you just wanted too at 180,000 miles? My 88 Firebird is the same as yours. Pain in the tail.

The Firebird was my daughters high school car. She purchased a new car after she graduated and went to college. The Firebird sat for 8 years in her garage without being started. Gasoline turned to sludge and fouled up the pump. I purchased the car from her and repaired it.

I guess that's why he said, "Ask me how I know."

Can't beat a garage find like that! I'm not sure even Sta-bil would have lasted 8 years, nice VinceP

I think you are correct Oldblue. The gas was closer to syrup than gasoline. And what a foul smell it was.

I never drove 500+ miles on a tank full, but at this stop for a fill-up, it showed estimated range.

That'll change as you drive and I find the bell starts dinging way before the miles roll by!
I stop and fill up every 475 to 500 miles, just cause I'm to lazy to push or walk to the next exit praying there's a filling station there!

How on earth did you get it to do that? This is what mine said when I just filled it up:

Because it looks at your recent gas mileage average - your average lately was a lot less than Oldblue has been running. If you clear your recordings and head out on the highway holding a nice even highway speed, you will find that the guesstimate for fuel range will increase.
