And here is my LS 09 dash

So I'm thinking I would need a trim plate and a switch to use the OEM switch.

I also have a 09 and I plan on installing the fog switch. I plan on drilling and filing open the correct size hole in the plate. The edges of the cut plastic I will color with whatever I determine to be the correct color permanent marker.

I believe the 08 SS was trying out a lot of the new electrical features incorporated into the 2009. The 2008 and older vehicles are not the same as ours. Your picture is just like my center console.

The part # for the 2009 fog light switch I was given was "15933137 Fog lamp switch". It mounts into a bracket attached to the back of the trim panel.

There must be a trim plate available for the 09 with the fog light switch hole in it though, I'd much rather have the plate than try to cut mine.

It's more involved than just drilling, the mounting holes/posts to hold the switch are also molded in the back as well.....

That's why I would want the correct trim plate.

there definately is a plate for that. Ask ChevyMgr, he may be able to get you a part number. You could also google. 2009 hhr fog vin and get a VIN from your same year with fog lights and TCS and then call a dealer and ask fo the part number. It should be around 100.00 for the cented plate.

I haven't had the dash off yet but that piece looks like it's a separate piece from the rest of the center console. I can't imagine it's a $100.00 piece.

maybe so, weird. Good luck though. I know in my 2007 it;s attached, but I see in your picture what you mean. It does look like it could pop out of the center console. If it does that trim plat is probably like 20-35 dollars.
