Ideas for a newly bought HHR 2.4L

I bought a HHR 2.4L couple weeks ago. I want to change somethings on it (interior, exterior, or Performance), but I'm not certain what to change. I have been looking photos of other HHR 2.4L to brainstorm for ideas.

Gosh, that's a loaded question with so many possible answers/suggestions.

Do your own thing, you'll be hard pressed to find two identical HHR's here, from mild to wild...we've got 'em all.

My usual answer to "what should I upgrade first?", is tires. A good set of performance rubber or top line touring tires will change the character of an HHR more than you'll believe.

These little trucklets have a very capable chassis that responds to tweaking quite well, you can really make an HHR handle for a modest cash outlay.

Try the "Search" function at the top of the page, or cruise the various forums. You're only limited by imagination and budget.

You have to get creative with these wagons because there's not a large aftermarket community available for them. Tail lights, head lights, grills, lower suspension, and wheels is about all you can do cosmetically without getting into custom fabricating parts. As for performance, exhaust, headers, intake, and tunes are popular but pricey for what you get. The HP to dollar ratio really doesn't get you much. Like Mike said use the search function...check out the pictures section and take a look at a few rides. We have members that have full-on custom HHR's with airbag suspensions, superchargers upgrades, etc. and then we have the guys that keep it very mild and just paint a few pieces here and there, add a nice grill and wheels and call it a day. It's all about making it yours...I think my wagon is one of a kind...I'd say my mods are on the mild side but I love it.

I would add: get familiar with rear brake shoe adjusting.. Properly adjusted shoes really help the front rotors..

Have HHR will mod

Looks are great but mine already had the crome trim package so I went power. Installed a cold-air-intake and replaced the top rib on the grill with mesh. Not only does it have more power but no longer has the low RPM lag and my fuel economy went from low 700s to 760+ per tank in summer on mid grade.
