engine code in glove box

LAP or LE8 is 2.2

LE5 is 2.4...

And might as well include LNF..which is the 2.0

L61 is also a 2.2 and was used in the 06-08 LS and 1LT's.

LAP does not look like it was used in our cars only the LE8 2.2 and was used in the 09-11's

LE5 2.4 was used 06-08

LE9 2.4 09-11

This is all from Wikipedia so blame them if it is wrong lol.

If you have a factory installed chrome exhaust tip, it's probably a 2.4.

Our 06 2.4 had one but it seems to me that they made those an option somewhere during the later years. My nephew's 2010 2.4 doesn't have a chrome tip.

The emissions sticker under the hood is another way you can tell if you have the 2.2L or 2.4L engine. If you choose to go the engine code route like the others have said above L61 or LE8 is the 2.2L (depending on year) and LE5 or LE9 is the 2.4L (depending on year) while LNF is the 2.0L found in the SS.

Since your HHR is a 2011 LE8 would be the engine code for the 2.2L and LE9 would be the engine code for the 2.4L. Hope this helps.
