Well good news. I just received a call from Progressive, a very apologetic phone call. They had to check with the project manager from my state and he reviewed the regulations. Evidently there were two regulations and all they read was the first one which did include the HHR panel but it referenced another regulation which nobody read. That particular regulation excluded the HHR panel from being considered a commercial vehicle. So all it good on the car. Got my homeowners resolved and decided to go directly to the company instead of going by the agent quote. Instead of a 100% increase, I only have a 50% increase.

Just wanted to thank all of you for your input and advice. It definitely gave me the confidence to challenge the insurance company. Isn't often that you can win with them!!! :)

Good to hear it all worked out for you. My 09 panel SS is licensed in California as a truck so I pay use tax in addition to normal value taxes. My insurer (AAA) stopped the underwriting process when I first bought the HHR (but neglected to tell me so I was an uninsured driver for two months). When I called to ask WTF, AAA insisted that I bring it into a local office for inspection. Nice agent took a few pictures inside and out and sent me on my way. No hassle since then, thank goodness. Ain't CA grand?
