Last year in July I was faced with a similar decision. I needed a new car and had to choose between buying a loaded 2LT or waiting just a bit to by an SS. I decided to go the “luxury” route with the loaded 2LT because I knew I would not often be using the performance capabilities of the SS. If you want the performance and the style go with the SS. Otherwise, I think a loaded 2LT would suit you.

Cool Summit White

I love my 2LT, especially in the Summit White with the high polished rims and chrome everywhere. But when I got mine in '06 the SS wasn't even announced yet. If I had to choose between mine and an SS, I'd probably take the SS. Although I think it SUCKS that the SS is not available in Summit White.

We just traded our '06 1LT for a '08 2LT, I looked at and drove a SS. I just felt stuck to the SS seats not to mention thy don't offer WHITE. So for the money was happier with the 2LT.

Neither, I would pick the car I could pay for.

Just ordered my SS and although fully decked out, the only real luxury options were the sun roof and the upgraded radio (guess an automatic/remote start, if that is an attraction - isn't for me). Improved performance, handling, braking and style were all standard equipment.

Like most have said, it depends on what you really want, but to me you sit an SS beside the others and they don't even look like the same car. The SS looks fast sitting still and the kick in the pants the turbo adds put a big smile on my face.

Why is the SS 24 dollars a month more? They should be very similar in price. Go with the SS and don't look back.
