I know I am in the minority but I like the look of the standard body style over the ss. My dream come true would have the ss motor in the 2lt.

i owned a 2LT fully loaded leather seats and all, i really liked the leather classy look but the seats felt incredably to hard, because of the leather, i have never sat in a leather seat that was as stiff as those, but i traded mine for the SS just beacase i loved the retro/tuner look and the faster engine was just a bonus for me... oh and the seats are so much more comfy

The SS only costs a bit more, looks better in and out AND gets good mileage. What is the question?

besides the seats and possibly the boost gauge, what looks better on the interior of the SS? I thought they were pretty much the same, at least on the SS i drove and my 2LT, they look the same.

Plus, i'm not a big fan of the seats in the SS anyways. that LUX fabric or whatever they call it seems like it'll wear out fast. The micro suede, although soft, just doesn't look good to me, it always has marks from your butt and back on it and looks worn from like the 1st week you get it. Just my opinion though.

I haven't driven a non SS HHR, but the 5 spd/SS is a blast to drive. The auto doesn't come with an LSD either btw.

I don't think the seats are going to wear out quickly twistman. Mine seem pretty robust.

I do like the non SS HHRs as well. I value high performance vehicles, so the SS is the route I'd take ... and there isn't much of a difference between a "base" SS and a loaded one anyway. It's not like GM has nav units, leather, or heated/cooled/massage seats in these cars! About the only options I cared for are the roof racks, LSD (not available on automatic), and sunroof. As long as the radio has an Aux jack for my iPhone or iPod I'm okay.

I know these aren't the only reasons why to get an SS, but it was a lot of the thoughts going through my mind. I went with the 2LT fully loaded (except leather). The 2LT does fine for what i need. the SS would have been fun to drive, but i don't need to be hot rodding.

I figured if i'm spending that much on a car (i'm 24, so it's a lot to me) I want all the options so it's kind of a luxury vehicle. The SS base is still going to be really nice, but it's still base.

If i had to decide between those actual 2 though it would be hard for me. i don't like white cars, and i don't like leather. The SS looking kickass in silver and black, i don't like the regular silver hhr, but the SS looks good with it.

Premium was the other kicker for me.... i don't like being required to use it.

Good comment on the sway bar up there too, i want to get one soon after i get a few money things taken care of.

You are not "required" to use premium. You are "recomended". No harm will come to your car. I have noticed ZERO difference in mileage. You must not be a pedal masher, so the possible reduced power with regular will not be an issue. A SS with 87 octane, is stil MUCH faster than the 2.4. I have notice that most on this forum that report gas mileage, the 2.4 is usually the worst. The SS drivers that report poor mileage, are speed demons. 31.2mpg over the last tank. I don't plan on filling up until I pass 450 miles on this tank, my average speed (over this tank) has been 34mph, so I have been mostly in the city.
There is nothing base about an SS :) And mine does look KICK ASS in black with the red/black interior....as long as its clean
I get a lot of complement about this car,and I live in a OCEAN or mercs, benz, audi's and huge rimmed chargers..........

UPDATE--Get the manual.......your right hand should not be doing anything else but driving anyway..lol

ok, so premium is not "required" but i think printing it on the inside of the fuel door is a pretty strong recommendation. Plus i think it's in a few posts around here or somewhere that i read online that using regular will drop about 20 or so hp off of it.

I can also see a lot of dealers (not all of them...) using it to their advantage if something is wrong with your car and take it in and find out you're not using premium and saying tough luck since it's right on the fuel door.

And yeah the SS is a lot faster then the 2.4, not arguing that. The SS was nice when i tested it. But if you're not a speed demon kind of person, then you might not need that extra ponies, get the car a bit cheaper with more options.

If you read your owner's manual,it says to use premium fuel if your vehicle has either the 2.0L OR the 2.4L motor. It also says 87 octane or higher may be used but could hinder performance.
My vote: 2LT...LLOOAAADDDDEDDDDD!
