I was waxing the HHR over the holiday weekend and thought the rear bumper cover the plastic is awful loose. It moves about an inch. Normal? Anyone else have this happen?

More info needed. Where is it loose? Along the top, at the sides where it meets the rear fenders, along the bottom, in the middle?

 

Shouldn't be loose at all. It's held in by clips, just as the front bumper is.

 

Dont know how long you have had your HHR but this was a problem with mine when I purchased it new in 08. When the rear bumper was installed on the assembly line they put the bolts in but there are metal strips/braces that go between the bumper and the panel that it is being bolted to that got left out. Dealer had to put them in. All good after that.

My rear bumper also feels somewhat loose.

I remember it being loose a while ago. Someone rear ended me and the bumper was damaged but didn't fall off. It was replaced and even afterwards it felt loose.

Now someone rear ended my car AGAIN but this time there is only a tiny little scrape and the bumper still didn't fall off.

I'm guessing the looseness is normal?

Can anyone go out and check their HHR right now and see if you can wobble it up and down?

 

It's a piece of rubber held on with plastic rivets. It is sort of loose.
