Brakes, rotors, tires ???? A remote that doesn't work (the security systems in these cars are notorious).......see the recent post regarding this.

Miles way to high even, and especially, for a "company car"....which PROBABLY has been driven into the ground.

I hope not.....but you may have bought some headaches on a first year model.

Good luck

120,000 miles is definitely on the higher side, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Nowadays, cars can last 200,000-300,000 miles if you take care of them and fix things when they need to be fixed, instead of ignoring them. And usually when you buy a used car with that many miles, they cost considerably less. The first owner (in this case the company) took the hit from depreciation and now this guy has a very nice car for a much lower price. As long he takes care of it, it will probably last him a very long time. Buying a car with high miles isn't something everyone wants to do, but for people who don't mind, it can be a good way to go because you can save a lot of money vs. buying one with lower miles. I bought my 2007 HHR used with 91,000 miles, which is pretty high, and I don't have a single complaint. I haven't had any problems with it whatsoever. I took it into a garage for an inspection before I bought it, and they said it needed a new O2/oxygen sensor, but that was it. I was really happy with the dealership, they treated me very good and they were honest and didn't give me any crap like some places do. When I told the dealership that the HHR needed a new O2 sensor, they said, "Ok, we can fix that for you. Would you be interested in buying the car once we fix it?" I only paid $7,000 for a 2007 HHR with 91,000 miles, which is actually a very good deal. In reality, my HHR is worth a lot more than $7,000. I'm not sure I would have wanted to buy the HHR without taking it to a garage first, that's a definitely a smart thing to do when you're buying a used car with high miles. But I'm completely satisfied with my now 110,000 mile HHR.

Well I've been looking for cars for a week now. I also was thinking chevy cobalt too but I simply didn't like the cobalt at all. If you ask me I felt the cobalt rode way to rough. The HHR was my choice.

And the security system be notorious noooo I disagree. The reason being is for one my cars get parked in a garage and at work I can simply look out the window and see if everything is okay. It may be a simple battery thats all. Besides its only a two year car. After that I can try for like a 2008 or something. She is gonna be taken care of.

I am driving yesterday and today a 2.2 auto. I don't think it's that bad. It's no rocket and not my SS version. But I believe it's peppier than my mothers 4cyl fusion.

I'm not trying to be a jerk here...I'm attempting to prepare you for some headaches (it's a first year car and many problems were worked out in the next models). Some owners had unbelieveable problems, some had little or none. I was one of the latter.

You obviously do not know about the HHR security sytem. They are not like previous years or systems. Read this for one idea.....

There are many more if you do a search.

Keep us informed.....good luck.

That thread is a rare instance, as is detailed here, https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/problems-service-repairs-42/ugh-code-u2137-our-hhr-30666/ and Mike has a non working key fob. It's not the same issue. That's not to say any of us can't get stung by an electronic malfunction or a bad module but to imply that he will????? I don't get it....

Now I'm the one that going to say "I'm not trying to be a jerk here" but you took an immediate dislike for his HHR, for some reason, and you've never seen it and know very little about it.....

Let him enjoy his car

Well I tried to write a post but shut off my laptop to run up to the store. So here is some details.

The dealer gave me brand new tires, new routers, and new brakes. The humming that I had from the test drive is gone and it doesn't shake when I brake. The key fob does work because it turned out to be a battery. I had a desktop computer that I barely use and took the CMOS battery in it out and put it in the key fob and it works.

I haven't gotten the remote start to work but thats because I was messing with it right after I got home and didn't let it cool and the manual states that it will not work if the coolant is to hot. So tomorrow morning I will try it again.

I'm also gonna take pics of her tomorrow. To late now.

Also thank your for your post Greybeard.

mikey-

I don't believe anyone was trying to slam ya. Just making you aware of some things that some have learned thru the years..

I know my comment about a quick decision, was just that & I still feel that way.. In this economy there are plenty of deals out there, if one takes the time to look..

I wish you all the best in your new ride..

I wasn't thinking that anyone was slamming me. The decission wasn't really a quick decission though. Like I said I've been looking at cars for a week now. I tested a cobalt and didn't like it. Tried a monte carlo and didn't like the fact of how big it was. I felt comfortable with the HHR. I also looked at like 4 other HHR and the others yeah had less miles but were beat up worse then this one.
