Almost got nailed due to poor acceleration?? What would happen if you were driving a regular car? Would you ever get there? Do you realise how that sounds....An SS on reg is still quicker and faster then any non turbo'd car out there in its class.Sounds to me like you were ..how should I say.. doing something you shouldn't have been and trying to blame it on the car........

My manual shows the same as the original poster. I wonder when they corrected the manual and did GM try to notify those who have the incorrect one?

Ah, I forgot to follow up on this: I was flipping through the manual the other day and a loose update page fell out. It was an update correcting this very issue. So, yes, it's good ol' Regular for our 2.2's, and y'all with the 2.4's can buy racing fuel! (Or not, your option.)

I do know that a turbo charged engine requires permium gasoline. The other engines shouldn't though.

I concur on the basic premise, but when you drive the same car for a while, you expect that you can make a certain speed in a certain distance, and use that to gauge when it is safe to pull out. If the car hesitates, you suddenly find yourself in a closer situation than you intended. Not ideal, but sometimes when ya gotta merge, ya gotta go as fast as the car can handle.

If you "gotta" ..... then you're out of options. Not a good practice while driving on public roadways. I'm just sayin'

I drive a 2007 LT w/ a 2.4 liter Premire Edtion and burn 87 octane, Get 22 - 26 mpg around the city and 32 on the highway.
