never seems like it is starving for air,I only put in a K&N filter. Question, can you increase the intake without increasing the pressure on a turbocharged engine? If it has access to air the turbo does the rest, is that true?

Yes you can increase the amount of intake flow into a turbo without having to change the amount of boost. Conversely, you can "choke" a turbo by providing insufficient intake air flow, some classes of turbocharged race cars use a form of intake restricting plate for the very purpose.

Well then I think I like the funnel. Looks a lot easier to install than a hood scoop array. So If the turbo heats the air when it's compressed, and cooled by the intercooler,why does it matter if it goes in the filter cool or not ??

Honestly on an SS, a K&N drop in air filter and possibly 4 chrome spacers under the lid will do what you need it to do. Vince at trifecta will tell you that even the spacers, all they do is provide more turbo sound. That the stock SS box does VERY well.

Couldn't you just add another inlet to the stock air box. As in just drill another circle into the box and then get a hose that runs to the front just like this air intake does and can probably do it under 50 bucks.

I agree with you on this. I have the stock with a K&N filter and have no issues. I'm just saying I think these people are just ripping us off, because there really isn't anything out there.

Yes I think that most of the "Performance Intakes" are not maybe intentional ripoffs, but I can't see any real engineering behind them either. To be perfectly honest, I only went with the GMPP CAI intake because I drove another HHR equipped with the kit and I loved the sound. GM says the combination of the CAI and their performance exhaust nets about 10-12 additional hp, maybe yes and maybe no, but that wasn't a big concern for me....I just like that angry bark when I put my foot down.
