Question Odd bits from Timing cover/crankshaft

While doing the timing chain on my fathers 08 HHR SS. These items fell out when I removed the timing chain cover. I believe they both came from the inner side of the cover. One looks like a spacer of some sort that has seen better days and the other looks machined like a race or something. Just curious as to what they are.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks much!

This has my attention! I might just go over to my shop and pull the timing cover off the old LNF.

Don't the cams have a seal and cover on the ends?

Here's the carnage if it helps. I used Dorman 917-954 for the woller'd out top guide bolt. I've looked at a ton of videos doing this job and looked for those two peices on every video but nada

Here is a pdf of the timing gear. I don't see anything that looks like them.

I hope you replaced the oil spigot.

I didn't get it opened up today, forgot it still has the crank pulley on it. More work than I have time for right now.

I'm thinking a VVT phaser came apart, or this is part of the front cover?

Yes a new oiler came in the kit! That old oiler wasn't letting much oil through if any at all.

No worries! Ill check over the cover to make sure I'm not missing anything. The phasers are on the cam gears right? If so they looked okay with nothing out of place or any damage.
