Looks like a bolt is broken off. And something, (maybe hardened sludge?) around the crankshaft, on top of the sprocket, most of the way around.

Yes, the phasers are integral to the camshaft sprockets.

Somebody didn't think oil changes are important and the CEL was just a pretty light.
I bet that "it is just a crankshaft sensor" was heard for a long time. Too bad P0016 doesn't mean what people think it does.

Also ZZP says don't change any sprockets, because sprocket failure is rare. And any kit I've ever seen with sprockets includes the crank sprocket for 2.2/2.4/ which is incorrect for 2.0 turbo. Cloyes instruction sheet says to discard it and reuse the original or source the correct one elsewhere if needed. There's also a thin shim in there somewhere; don't remember the details but it's mentioned in the Cloyes and Melling videos.

I also would insist upon a fresh stock OEM cam chain tensioner. Also the later OEM balance chain tensioner.

I do know that the LNF has a different crankshaft sprocket then the 2.2 or 2.4 for the balance shaft chain , I think that the chain might have been replaced and the wrong sprocket was installed!

Measure the inner diameter of that chewed up washer. Then find the corresponding shaft it fits to. My guess is it’s the same size as the damper shaft.
I seem to recall an old SS thread that mentioned that washer and oil pump spacing or something like that.
Maybe member fastsuv will chime in on this. I know he’s done 1 or 2 chain jobs on his herd of SS’s.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks much!

I found two washers that start with the same GM part number during my timing chain project...

Here's a view of both sprockets with washers as I was putting the thing back together...

Looks like OP needs a new balance shaft timing chain kit also!
