Heres another trick that seems to last a long time..I used the frebreeze spray bottle and squuirt a bit into each vent..it tends to stick for quite awhile and everytime the blower is on the smell releases, especiall with the heat on.Ive tried many things over the years, don't use scent oils! Nasty stuff collects dust and then you wind up with a musty smell.I like this better then trees or cans as there is no clutter.

another vote for Febreeze.....also those air fresheners that come in the bags with the sceneted rocks....those work pretty well too to throw either under the seats or up on the floorboard up under the dash...

Well, my apologies for having a sense of humor. The title did produce many valuable answers for everyone who has experienced this strange phenomenon

Many thanks to all who actually helped solve the problem

The header also drew out some silly answers that distract from informative comments about HHRs. An acceptable titles would still have got us valuable answers.

BTW. Have any of you had trouble accessing this site in the last few days?

Overall the car always smells good with various air fresheners I have in it but maybe once a week when the A/C comes on, That horrible rotten egg stink comes from it. Does not last long-maybe as minute or so but brings attention to the fact that something may be wrong.
