Don, or Moderators - So does this mean I should use a Memory Saver to swap in a New battery in my '08 ??

Yes. It helps immensely. Especially the 2008, model year.

Blue- Thank You Sir............... Last we talked Batteries earlier in this thread, the general consensus was no memory saver needed.

Mine lasted 10 years. Replaced with a NAPA battery. I think it was $135 on sale and came with the vent tube.

My theory on why they last so long is because they are not under the hood. They are in a protected area. Until this past July ours has been a garage baby since we bought it in April of 2008.

Doc brown - Thanks for your reply, I agree with your HHR battery longevity theory..Much better environment in the rear.

Did you use a memory saver when you did the swap ?

I pick up my new battery tomorrow..

I gather a memory saver is needed for the 2008 due to TPMS issues, as per Don.

I hate tpms - glad we don't have it shoved down our throats up here.

On mine- Last summer I replaced the original battery with a NAPA Legend battery. No memory saver. Everything was working after the switch.
This summer the NAPA battery died .Had a short in it, I replaced it with another NAPA battery. No memory saver. Thats when the TPMS and the keyless entry didn't work.

Thanks guys for the replies. I appreciate the input.. I don't care for the TPMS either. But it is what it is.

2manyvans- Sorry to hear about your shorted out battery. That had to be a bummer. Maybe because yer '08 was powerless for too long caused the issues. ?
But thank you for letting me know I could have some bad issues if I keep trying to get my OE battery into Guinness records.

Only need a 9V battery like from a flashlight to keep it powered up to save memory. On the wifes 08 Mopar I just hooked up my big charger & switched it to Manual, & set it on 2 amp setting, ithat is right near 9V,
her battery swap went smoothly, that was 6 years ago.

Mine I swapped today doing same process. Everything I tested so far is as normal. Hope this battery lasts like the one in her Mopar, so far so good.

Napa is not close here, so I got another one from Advance Auto & with Speedperks I saved $52. It's a 650cca & 810 ca (same battery as used in Z06 Vette). ...............

Funny part is my OEM 11 year old battery is on my bench & still tests 12.7V

See if the HHR wing of the Smithsonian wants it.... LOL
That's amazing. I park outside, and got 3-4 years out of mine. Replaced twice before my engine blew at 9 years of age from the build date.

You need to find a way to turn that into lotto luck!

Thanks, I'll have to check on that..I was thinking Guiness ? I removed the decal, that Donbrew posted about, & it was hiding 4 of the cell 6 caps, I checked them & plenty of electrolyte, but the sulphation is quite present, no surprise.

I'm glad it didn't quit on me somewhere, I give the credit to 2manyvans post about his shorted out battery. That got me serious about replacing mine.

Yes how can I turn that into Lotto luck ?
