Is OnStar available as an add-on?

My used 2006 2LT apparently does not have OnStar equipment installed, since I don't see any buttons on the rearview mirror other than the compass button. I do have the Pioneer system with XM and cd changer. My question is can OnStar be added to my HHR's system by the dealer? If so, any estimates on part/install costs?

I am in the same boat as you here.

It seemed kind of odd to me for GM to not leave a way to install OnStar post-production as it would be more money for them.

they don't seem to have a way to add anything after the fact, which i a mistake on their part...

I would pay to add the bluetooth functionality to my car, but I would need the new XM module, and it doesn't work... Who doesn't build backwards compatibility into their product!

Exactly how I feel. I do not know the figures, but add-ons have to be a nice chunk of extra dough for the dealerships (which given the last year would be a nice perk) as well as for GM itself.
