Origin of the HHR

Yes, we all know that the original designer of the Chrysler P.T. Cruiser moved to G.M. and designed the HHR, but I just came across this P.T. Cruiser styling study called the 'California Cruiser', and to me, it's got quite a lot of 'HHR' in it........ This was done in 2002.

I can see the embryonic form of the HHR's rear fenders and bumper there, maybe the shape of the windshield too.

Good eye. You can really see where Bryan lifted the greenhouse and the backend for the HHR.

I would say if you cover the front clip and posted this many would think it was a new HHR prototype.

I saw this years ago and forgot about it. Thanks for posting this as I can really see the first ideas on the body lines.

Looks like the the HHR is the PT Chrysler never built.
