Engine removed from the vehicle. Oldblue, is it feasible to try this without removing the engine?

You may be able to do it by removing the heads and pan but why would you take it to that point and not do bearings and timing components and do it right.

Yeah it’s getting blowback plenty when idle running with oil cap off just returning the rings and going to the GM as mentioned, Yup in this case $$$ it’s an 09 HHR 2.2L for $1500 not money bags here! Though got enough know how to get this on just doing with with jacks not a shop lift which is what makes it all a @&$! Just started snowing here again in Illinois. Thanks for the info it will be great aid. Everything is locked up cause the fool who ran this ride previously cut corners, all of them. Still had not done leak-down test cause just installed the catalytic then struts after chopping and rethreading hope holds good until the piston rings and bore ratios are specked.

Locked bolts in white circle

FYI
The nut/bolt(there is 2 bolts) that connects the strut to the knuckle. You remove the nuts 1st, then tap the bolts out. The bolts have splined shanks. They’re not meant to be turned.

PB Blaster and a 24” Johnson bar with an 18 mm socket! A bowl of Wheaties might help!

These are the dimensions for the rings you ordered Note the piston diameter is different

I had these ordered and match specs for the most part with digital ruler though still might be off by some when it come to how they set so digging around for more info. I’ll probably pop them in anyway and give them a rev as just found how easy it is to replace them other than the cold and not having a garage which is a major @?$& if not the only really. Thanks for those specs measuring again right now actually 👌
Also it went into limp mode so need to grab this also.

The Caliper though there is that pressure vs. eye at this time measuring against the specs Oldboy sent on the ones I ordered from Amazon so… watching this guy now! My bad I was literally working on the ride when I received email “what did you do with your HHR” ironically.

V8 though good on comparison ghetto car class going on over here.
