Many of us posted in the beginning that we hated where the window buttons were located. I had a learning curve of all controls. My Ford Windstar had a shifter on the column, wipers on the left side, window switches on the door, and cruise buttons on the right side of the steering wheel. Driving both vehicles drove me crazy. But now that I only drive the HHR, I don't have too much of a problem with any of the controls.

I would like them to make the front window buttons different from the rear so we can chose the right one without looking down. Backlighting them might be a nice option also.

Like everyone else, I had a bit of a time with the switches. After getting rid of my mini van, I kept wanting to lower the window from the armrest. But I do like them were they are, and got use to them. To the point were it is second nature to reach to the consol. After a bit you get use to reaching for the correct one for each window.

As soon as I can order the switch and panels from GM I will switch mine out on both front doors, cant stand mine. Hated the location from day one, and they aren't even back lit. I am almost 6 foot and I have to lean forward to put a window down all the time.

The window switch configuration is one of the (many) reasons I decided to buy an HHR. I wouldn't change the location even if I could.

Do any HHRs have express down for the passenger side window? If not, is it possible to add that feature? I should probably search first...

It was one of the things I didn't like at first

It was one of the things I didn't like at first, but over time I got used to it.. The window switches and the drum brakes.. All changed on the 2008 SS.. And why don't the make all the windows express up AND down? I was in a Nissan Murano and thats how it was set up. And a friend had a BMW (older convertible) that has a switch to lower all the windows at once for when you want to lower the roof.. It's the little things.. But so far I'm happy with "The H" as she has become known. I too have to adjust as to which car I'm driving. There are worse problems to have.

I still don't like the position of the switches... How I sit in my HHR makes it an inconvenience and potential hazard to roll the windows down... Well, not really, it's just more of a pain in the neck than anything. And I hate it when people keep asking where my window buttons are... Even people who already know still ask

My idea is to get a window switch interface from the SS when it comes out and wire it up, put it in the same location in my car...

If you wire them in parallel, you can have dual controls.

I cannot believe people really want to go through the trouble of moving those switches. they are not really all THAT bad where they are......
