Question about touch-up paint
#11
Well the scratch is thru the paint so I will need a paint match. I'll call the dealer and prepare to wait a bit since I do think the color may be a bit different. When I was down there adding the "Mesh mod" I found some more scratches. When I was in SF I kept hanging the black "under valance" on curbs...on many streets you park at 90 degrees to the curb...so something may have happened there. But I still think it looks like plain old road rash from the 1500 or so miles I put on it. After I get the scratches covered I'm thinking of putting a strip of something over it...I'm investigating some vinyl/carbon fiber look sheets, since it seems a vulnerable area. Has anybody else crawled down there to look at your front valance? Thanks for all the feedback.

I just got the $10 pen-style touch up paint from a dealer for my Daytona Blue.
So....with a chip that's down to metal, what's the best way to fill it?
I read somewhere that you can use the end of a match, cut it to a point and use that to fill in the chip by layering. Paint/dry/paint/dry etc until it is level.
Does that sound right?
Thanks.

I had to order "Traverse Blue" through a dealer for my Golden Teal.....parts guy looked at me like what the hell color is that. They have never even stocked it. I'm not so concerned with the chips on the hood but I have a spot right next to the grill that I managed to scratch down to the shiny metal while taking my grill out...starting to rust a bit there also. I have some stuff that will cover rust and stop the spread and then I'll just dab some paint on. It is in an area that you can't really see so not bent on a perfect touchup
