reattaching door dust shields.
A search turned up nothing to the question. From the factory there is a yellow non-hardening sticky type glue that holds the dust shield to the interior of the door skin between the door skin on the inside and the trim panel. I know there are many other solutions to reattach the dust shield (thin foam sheet) to the door suchas butyl tape etc but does anyone know what GM used and where to get it? Dealers are no help

GM used a butyl sealant, similar to weather striping sealant.

I’ve nver looked into getting any anywhere , thinking they must purchase it in huge bulk amounts.

The stuff they used on my Mazda melts in the sun and drips on the ground. Yuck!
GM actually calls it a "water deflector" and has no instructions as to a sealant. The instructions for replacement is this picture.

Are you the referring to the bottom inside edge of the doors? Mine (2009 2lt) has nothing on the door but has a corresponding body mount gasket which follows the entire door opening. I've wondered about this.
Thanks.
Thanks.
