Remote Start distance ?
Does anyone know where the receiver is located in the car? My range goes from 150 ft to 0 ft intermittenly - have replaced battery in remote with brand new one but got no consistent performance. Don't understand why this started now after 6 years - don't even have 50 K on it yet.

I bet you $100 its the remote. The remotes have a habit of the battery terminal inside breaking loose from its soldering. Take it apart and I bet you will find it has popped apart from the circuit board. Its an easy fix if you are good at soldering, otherwise a new remote is in order.
at 300 for the new screen remote and flashing I would seriously consider taking car to stereo shop and have an aftermarket security remote start system installed.
Not always true... just because the person might not be good at soldering that they have to buy a new one. They could take it to a computer/electronics repair shop for that.

). So the cost is nowhere near the 300 you mention. No need to over think something so simple especially with the problems I've seen people have with aftermarket systems and the clowns I see at the shops that install them.
Not sure what you mean by 'new screen remote and flashing' but the remotes are 35-50 bucks depending on where you get them and the programming is around 25-40 and even free is you know someone at the dealership (as do I

I know. That remote was briefly mentioned earlier in this thread also but it isn't what was being discussed when this old thread was revived after post 12 by Ogre Ralf. His question had nothing to do with two way remotes or aftermarket stereo shop systems.
