Oh, and for the record, the engine will automatically shut off after a certain amount of time, should the ignition key not be operated.
That, and the AUTOSTART deature, is also a AUTO OFF feature. Should you use AUTOSTART and after 5 minutes, you want to shut the car off, you simply hit the autostart button on the fob again, and it shuts the engine off.
your owners manual has all the info in section 2, page 8-9
there is SO much more to know, than just starting the engine with the key fob. like when it wont work, how to disable the remote start feature through the DIC, how to shut the engine OFF after using remote start, and how many remote starts you can use between key cycles, etc.
Good read.

It is an option in Canada, I had to look for a while to find an LS auto with it. Maybe due to environmental laws. Here in Toronto, I think it is now against the law to leave a car idling for more than 3 minutes.
Apparently mine was the only imperial blue/ebony with autostart and roof rails within about 400 miles.

I bought it for the nights of freezing rain that put a layer of ice on the cars. When that happens, I sometimes cannot get the doors open at all due to the rubber door seals freezing to doors. I havent had a chance yet to see if it works as well as I hope it will. If I know its coming, I also put silicone spray on the seals.

Well, the dealer replaced the battery and it feels like there's a real battey in there instead of a 4-pack of D cells but I haven't started it without the remote since. It is such a treat, I can't understand the folks who have it not using it. Don't get me wrong here, I don't use it to warm the vehicle when it's cold. I use it when I'm walking towards it to get in... how can you NOT do this? :-)

I am having battery problems with my car, and I have found just the opposite of others here. Sometimes I try to use the remote starter and the car just clicks and wont start. When I go out and use the key, it generally will start. It may crank a little slowly, but it does turn over with the key when it wouldnt with the remote button. Dont know why.
