Hey, i know this is an old post but thought i'd give my 2 cents. A friend of mine started her car in the winter and took her remote with her. She went back to her car only to find out that the car would not unlock with the remote since it was already running. She had to call AAA and they had to jimmy it open. It was a ford focus, don't know if chevy's the same way. Wouldn't try it unless you have an extra key in your hand.

I have used the remote start a few times and no problems with unlocking the doors.

I use my remote constantly
Love it
had to turn it off and then on later 2 times. i did this to reset it because i would hit the lock and then start and all that happened 2 times was the lights came on and it did not start.

I also use the remote start feature on an average of 3 times a day - at least!
Never a problem.

I had to get my HHR reflashed when they released the auto start update because mine occasionally stalled and the lights would pick and choose when to stay on. Since I have had it reflashed I have had no stalling problems and the lights come on every time.

Starting car, then taking keys with you is not a remote start.
That's called leaving the car running.

The object of a remote start is when you HAVE the keys in your hand ( not leaving the car running ). The remote starter is part of the alarm remote which should be attached to the same key ring as your car key.
