Right headlight not working- low or high beam.

Hello,

I have a 2010 Chevy HHR and my right headlight is not working. I’ve tried both a new fuse and new bulb. Any idea of what this could be?

I’m hoping someone will be kind enough to help me.

Thanks in advance,

John

What about high beam ? Have you checked all fuses ? There is more than 1. Have you checked the relays ?
If you have no lights at all on that side, I would check the ground for that side of the harness. 2nd check would be the steering column stalk switch.

Hi firemangeorge, thanks so much for your reply. Neither the high beam, nor the low beam is working on the right side. The left side is fine. Where exactly would the ground be on the right (driver) side?

Thanks again,

John

If it's both hi and low there is a good chance the ground is bad or the socket is burned, since they are different circuits, same ground.
I would start by checking for continuity of the ground wire from the socket to any ground.

Don. I don’t have a schematic but don’t the headlights have different grounding points for left and right ?
(Also don’t have a HHR anymore so I can’t go look )

Well, they do kind of have different grounds. Both are on the driver side fender. Left HL grounds on the strut tower G109, the right HL grounds at the "left side of engine compartment" G111. It doesn't matter if checking continuity to ground, unless it fails.

G109, is #1

# 5 is G111
