Roof Rail AirBags
Roof Rail AirBags
Today I had to climb an embankment to avoid a collision. I was successful at avoiding the collision, no damage to anything or anyone.... but evidently the rollover sensor thought it was much worse. The roof rail airbags deployed and the seat belts locked down breaking the plastic trim bits. I have not got an estimate yet.
Here is the question: I have $250 deductible does anybody know if I can make any of that up by doing some myself? Like, get a reset brainbox for $55 and bolt it in, or the belt tensioners the simple nuts & bolts parts. I am not looking to replace the bags myself, just get away with the $250 somewhere, there are a lot of little things that get broken.

Really glad you're OK, that's the most important thing.
Probably your best bet would be to get the estimate and then talk to your agent and the shop about leaving certain items off the ticket for you to perform your own repairs.

I am just trying to figure which ones are doable. Seems like replacing the seat belt assemblies is pretty easy or getting them "repaired" and doing the labor myself.
If you have ever taken route 234 between I66 and Lee highway in the Manassas/Bull Run Battlefield you know what embankment I'm talking about. The guy in front of me apologized for stopping so fast.

Just for future liability concerns, your underwriter will probably insist that the belt tensioners be replaced rather than serviced. My manuals are back in NC, but I believe GM's post deployment protocol also calls for them to be replaced.
I don't think they'll have issues with you doing any work yourself, except for the SRS components, that goes back to liability.
I'm pretty sure I know where you went off, I can see that triggering the roll sensors. Did you get any damage to the undercarriage?
